Pork and Policy Breakfast
The Pennsylvania Strategic Investment Program (PA SIP) hosted its second annual Pork and Policy event at the Pennsylvania State Capitol on Wednesday, October 7th. The event brought together Pennsylvania elected officials, their staff, and pork industry leaders to celebrate October as Pork Month and highlight the important role pork producers play across the Commonwealth.
This year’s event was dedicated to Chairman Eddie Day Pashinski in recognition of his service and dedication to Pennsylvania’s agricultural industry. PA SIP is grateful for Chairman Pashinski’s longstanding support of Pennsylvania’s pig farmers throughout his tenure as Chair of the House Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and for his commitment to advocating for the agricultural community.
More than 100 attendees gathered for a Pork Month breakfast featuring bacon, sausage, ham, and the event’s signature favorite, Maple Bacon Lattes. During the celebration, PA SIP was honored to receive an official citation recognizing October as Pork Month in Pennsylvania. The organization is grateful for the support of Pennsylvania’s Senators and Representatives and for their recognition of the contributions pork producers make to the Commonwealth.
PA SIP extends its appreciation to the elected officials and legislative staff who joined the second annual Pork and Policy event. Their continued engagement and support are vital to ensuring that the voices of Pennsylvania’s agricultural community and pork producers are represented in policy discussions and decision-making.
The Pork and Policy event reflects PA SIP’s continued commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue between Pennsylvania’s agricultural industry and government leaders, celebrating the accomplishments of the state’s pork producers, and increasing awareness of the critical role pork production plays in Pennsylvania’s economy, communities, and agricultural landscape.
###
The Pennsylvania Strategic Investment Program (PA SIP) functions as a state-level initiative affiliated with the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) to ensure producer-driven input and resources are effectively directed toward advancing the pork industry. PA SIP manages voluntary contributions from producers and industry partners. These funds are allocated to support initiatives that strengthen the state’s pork sector and provide Pennsylvania producers with a voice in decision-making processes. PA SIP not only ensures local producer engagement but also channels state-level resources into broader national advocacy efforts, linking Pennsylvania’s pork producers to a coordinated policy strategy that promotes sustainability, economic growth, and long-term industry viability.
